Make Your Name in 3D

After a pretty long time of break, I finally decided to continue writing on this blog. Well, for information, there was a lot of things happened and it kinda made me feels a bit lazy to write.

Okay, this time we'll learn how to make our name in 3D. We're not going to use a complicated 3D software. The only software we need is just Illustrator (any version should be fine).

Okay, now the first step of course is opening a new document, as usual, try to choose a resolution that fits your screen resolution well. For me, I chose 1024 x 768.
For those who don't know how to open a new document, please simply press Ctrl+N or choose 'New Document' in the welcome screen (if you activate it), then choose the most suitable resolution for your screen.

Then by using 'Type Tool' , type yout name on the document, this time I used Font style N-Gage and size 140 pt.

To make a 3D effect, we can use 'Extrude & Bevel' from 'Effect' menu.
After choosing 'Extrude & Bevel', then the dialog box will appear.
For the rotation, you can adjust it as you like, as for the others, I suggest to set 'Extrude Depth' to 50 and 'Classic' Bevel.

Then it would turn out to be like this.

In addition, if you want to make it into a bitmap, like .jpg or .png, you can use 'Export' from 'File > Export'. And the first thing you have to do is obviously choosing the destination where the bitmap will be saved.I personally choose a subfolder in My Documents and I saved it in .png format which supports trnsparency.
After that you should decide the resolution of your picture, I chose 150 ppi (pixel per inch). If you want sharper piture, you can set higher res.
And then, it's finished. Please have a good try and remember, you can always make more creation by giving more adjustment to the 'Extrude & Bevel' dialog box.

Bubbley Leaf

In this fourth tutorial we will play with photoshop again. This time, We will learn how to make a bubbly leaf. The leaf shown in this tutorial will look like it's made of bubbles, so that's why I named it 'Bubbley Leaf'.

The first thing to do is obviously open a new document, in any size, but I recommend to use the size of 1024x768 since it's the most common resolution nowadays.

Okay, after opening a new document, by using 'Custom Shape Tool'
, we can start making a shape within the document, this time, based on our title I chose a 'Leaf-shaped object'.

Then by using 'Direct Selection Tool', right click on the shape and then choose 'Make Selection' and if this Dialog box appear

Fill the box with value of '0' so we can get sharper image.

Continued with pressing Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer.

Don't forget to fill the layer with color. O yea, I choose black because it's quite opposing with the background color, white.

Next we will have to pay attention to the 'Layers ' window.

Right Click on the 'Layer1' then choose 'Select Pixels'
Then press 'Q' to enter 'Quick Mask Mode', it'll change the looks of Layer 1 until it looks like this.

The most important part starts here, by selecting menu 'Filters > Pixelate > Color Halftone' we can start making 'Bubbley' effect.

As seen in that dialog box, we can fill the 'Max. Radius' field by value of 14 pixels, then each channel sequentially from channel 1 to 4 by value of 40, 30, 20 and 20 pixels.

We can continue by pressing 'Q' once again to exit the 'Quick Mask Mode'.

The next step is filling the layer with the same color by simply pressing Shift+F5, continued with pressing Ctrl+Shift+i to select the outside of the layer.

The last thing to do is pressing 'Delete'.

This is the final form.

And at last... please have a try and Good Luck!

Marble

Okay, now I'll continue to write more simple graphic design tutorial. This time we'll use CorelDraw, which has been known very well about it's simplicity to make drawings.

Without wasting our time, let's open our CorelDraw and make a new document. The size of the document itself is up to each of us. And once more I have to tell you that we can't make a small document because the visibility is the most important thing here so our works can be seen easily.

This time I make a document of 1024 x 768 pixels.
Then by using 'Ellipse Tool', make a circle within the document.
By using 'Interactive Fill Tool', fill the circle with gradient, like this
To readjust the gradient, we can use 'Fountain Fill Dialog' which we can call by pressing F11.
I suggest to choose Custom color to fill the circle so we can manually decide the color for the marble based on our favorite color. For example, I use bright green here because I wanna make it 'cool to see'.

If you don't like outline in the circle, just right click on the color palette.
t
Then, we'll make one more circle, but first, please set the fill color to white and the outline to 'none'.
ps: remember left click on the color palette will change the fill color and right click for the outline.

It should be like this right now.
The most interesting part will begin here. By using 'Pick tool', select the white circle, then by using 'Interactive Transparency Tool', we can give a transparent effect to the white upper circle.
So it'll be like this.
It should be the last stap, so by simply clicking outside the circle, you'll see the result.

Okay, I guess I can't say anything else, keep trying and good luck!

Keep scrolling, you'll find more car wallpapers.

This is a page which will make you really interested, Wallpaper Section. Just like it's name, this page is filled with wallpapers of mine, which are my works in the past, of course.

Cat Doll

In this second tutorial we will play with Illustrator. Hm... but first, I wanna say that this tutorial feels nostalgic to me, remember that song "small circle... small circle... a big circle..."? We usually sang that song while drawing some circles until it finally formed a doll shape.

Okay, this tutorial will have the same principle. We will draw some basic shapes to make a simple doll.

Okay, here we go, after opening your illustrator, make a new document, in any size, but please make sure that the document is large enough to make the doll visible. Then, by using 'Ellipse tool' , make a circle within the document.
Continued by making some small circles inside the big one.To make those small circles, we don't have to make each of them precisely. Just make one of them and then press Ctrl+C (copy) then Ctrl+F (paste in front). The only thing we have to do is place them in the right 'Coordinates'.

Don't forget to make a bigger circle as the mouth.
To make it different, use 'Shear Tool' skew it.
Then just like when we made the first small circles, press Ctrl+C and Ctrl+F to make a duplicate.
This time, use 'Reflect Tool' to flip it horizontally.
To make the nose, use 'Pen Tool' , then edit the 'nose' path by using 'Direct Selection Tool' and 'Convert Anchor Point Tool'
Until it finally become like this.
To make the 'mustache' we can still use the 'Pen Tool'. But this time with different steps.
First, click in the beginning point, then click at the ending point to make a line but don't release your finger from your mouse button, because you still have to drag it to make a curve

Make it three of them and to the same for the other side as well.
So it will be like this.
As for the ears, we can make it by doing the same step as when we made the nose. But this time, after we make the paths, press Ctrl+Shift+{ to send them to the back of the layers.

You might realize that a white area will appear inside or beside the 'mustache'. That's not a problem, you just have to rearrange the 'Color Palette' like this

We've finished the face, we can continue with the body. The body itself is just an oval, we can make it by using 'Ellipse Tool'.
Don't forget to make the feet as well.
Copy and paste it 4 times until it turns out like this.
The last thing that this cat doll needs is a tail.
Then... We've finished! Remember you can always make more variations by rearranging the 'Color Palette'.

A Simple Stamp

Okay, this first post will be about Photoshop. In this tutorial, we'll learn how to simply make a stamp, which we can use for our photograph or documents.

Okay, first of all after opened your photoshop, please make a new file, by simply pressing Ctrl+N.

Then, by using 'Rounded Rectangle Tool', we can make a path for the stamp.

After making the path, by using 'Direct Selection Tool', right click then choose 'Make selection'. Next, this window will appear.
We can decide the feather radius based on our needs, the bigger feather radius will make the edge softer. But I prefer a sharp edge, so I'll give a '0' feather radius.

Then, press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer.
Next, press Shift+F5 to fill the selection.
Then, go to menu "Select > Modify > Contract" until this dialog box appear.

After that, press "Delete" then Ctrl+D to deselect.
The next step is creating the text for the stamp, with the 'Text tool', we can create our ow text.
At least it should be like this right now.

The next step is creating another file. Just like when we made the first file, press Ctrl+N to make a new file, and don't forget to create a layer, too.
Then, go to menu "Filter > Render > Clouds"to fill the layer with a cloudy filter. But remember, the color of the cloud is depended to the color palette.
next, please select both layers in the first file, then drag and drop then on the 1st layer of the 2nd file.
It Should look like this.
To get the 'stamp-like' effect, the first thing to do is click on the visibility icon to make the "Stamp" layer invisible, then right click on the thumbnail, followed by pressing Ctrl+Shift+I (select inverse) and 'Delete'.
This is the first result.

To make it simpler to be moved, please Merge all layers, this can be done by clicking on the menu "Layer > Merge Layers".
This is the Stamp on the other picture.
Remember, we can always play with the blending mode to create various effect.
The way to access blending option menu is by clicking on the name of the layer, then click 'Blending Option'
Then this dialog box will appear.
Well, then... have a try and good luck!!!

The Starting Note

I think it's a necessity to properly introduce myself and my idea about what kind of post which will be written here.

So what I'll write here is my idea of simple graphic design. These graphic design will use some certain design software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Freehand and maybe some open source design software. But please don't worry that this will be a hard topic. Because just like the title, "Kid's Scribblings", this blog will have the simplest graphic design tutorial for everyone, whether they're adult or kids, whether they're expert or newbie, the point is this blog's tutorial will be easy so even kids can do it.

I hope everyone can understand and use these graphic design tutorial for their own purpose, because I think graphic design is very interesting and I want everyone at least be able to do it.

Okay, I guess I have nothing more to say. Please enjoy this blog and don't forget to visit regularly.
